Parasport
With the world of disability sport gaining pace and new innovative opportunities arising from both Paralympic and non-Paralympic sports, the industry needed a new state of the art method to inform, educate, inspire and signpost participants.
Parasport was created with just this in mind. A partnership between Deloitte and the British Paralympic Association (BPA) was formed and Parasport was born.
The fully inclusive website has many key features that are unique to Parasport, and are in fact a first within the industry, that proves a user friendly environment to find out more about opportunities available to users so that they can make their own decisions.
The best way to experience these features is to use them and see for yourself the benefits. Have a read of the following information and then click the link to try it out:
Self assessment wizard
This has been designed to take the very complicated process of classifying a disability, and making it easy enough for you or I to do it. It then allows you to identify which sports are suitable for you to participate in with your disability, you can then read about each sport, watch some video and most importantly contact that sport directly. The key to this is really three fold;
1: You can get a basic understanding of your disability sport classification, and other classifications.
2: You can see all the Paralympic sports you are eligible to participate in and then read up on them and then bring them to life by watching the numerous videos and reading interviews with athletes.
3: You can contact the ‘right’ person who has been quality assured by Parasport to be able to give you the advice and guidance you require (the largest percentage of disabled people who do not participate in sport, claim it is due to continued negative experiences).

With all 23 Paralympic sports featured on the site and supplying the text, images and video, we have created a virtual shop window that allows users to find out information and become inspired by sports whilst finding out how to get started. Some of the sports who have created excellent pages with video, imagery and interviews are as follows:
Find a club
This section is growing and will allow users to search for opportunities geographically as opposed to sports on a specific basis. Again all the clubs on this list have been provided by the sports. This allows the sports to identify clubs they feel are suitable, inclusive and able to offer a positive experience. Some sports, such as Swimming, have decided that they would like anyone interested in swimming to contact them first rather than just go to a club, so no swimming club will feature on this section at the request of the sport. We support the sports requests if they feel that the user will benefit and get the best experience.
