Baseball/Softball

BaseballSoftballUK looks to appoint coaches for the spring and summer.

Over the past few years BSUK, with the help of local clubs and Sport England, has used baseball and softball coaches from inside and outside our community to aid the development of both sports in the UK.

This year is no different. We hope to further extend our programmes with additional support from talented coaches who are available between April and August 2009.

What are the requirements?

The coaches we are looking for need to have a good knowledge of softball and baseball. They should have had some experience coaching in one or both sports and be able to deliver coaching sessions to children and adults. Much of the work that will be done by the coaches will be in schools and youth academies as well as with local clubs in the region where they will be working.  Applicants from within the UK should have a current Level 2 qualification and a CRB.

Where are posts available?

We have coaching positions available in the North West and South East of England, London and the West Midlands.

What does BSUK provide?

BSUK will assist with living arrangements and costs, flights to and from the UK if necessary and basic work and living expenses.

What are the outcomes for coaches?

This experience has been a valuable means for our previous coaches to develop their coaching abilities, add to the quality for their CV, enjoy an excellent coaching experience and have a fun time in delivering sessions in the sports they love to play. And their work will be invaluable for the development of softball and baseball in the UK.  It may also be possibly for a coach to play softball or baseball while here.

However, applicants should be aware that hard work is involved, including working in afternoons and evenings when players are available. Also, many clinics and Academy sessions will take place over weekends.

When are coaches needed?

The dates of these appointments are up for negotiation within the months of April and August. Coaches will need to be prepared to use public transport and have their own travel and medical insurance. Coaches placed in the West Midlands and North West will require a driver’s licence.

Things coaches may want to know.

Coaches who come from outside the UK may need to adjust to the fact that our leagues are quite small and that our fields are sometimes multipurpose facilities that many sports share. At a junior and senior level, everyone is still learning many aspects of the games. That’s why we need help! But we can promise that it will all be a lot of fun!
