The sport of Goalball is played by visually impaired athletes. Goalball is played by two teams of three on an indoor volleyball court.

The aim is to score goals by rolling the ball into the opposing team's net. The opposing players attempt to block the ball with their bodies.

At the end of the game, which lasts 20 minutes, the team that has scored the most goals is declared the winner. Golden goal and penalty shoot outs resolve drawn matches outside group games.

Whole Sport Plan
Sport England funds national governing bodies to deliver our three outcomes - grow, sustain and excel and provides additional support to help them achieve this. Each sport has developed a WHOLE SPORT PLAN that explains how it plans to achieve these targets. This summary also helps partners identify possible opportunities to work together

Sport Factsheets
In June 2008, Sport England published detailed sport evidence packs, which bring together data from the first year of the Active People Survey, (APS 1) the Taking Part Survey, and Sport England's market segmentation.

These packs were prepared to help sport's national governing bodies develop their 2009-2013 plans but they also provide a detailed overview of sports facts relevant to all in the sports sector.

Following the detailed sport evidence packs, further sport specific information has been compiled in a series of sport factsheets. The factsheets provide information on weekly participation rates by key demographic groups.
