At the Partnership Awards Evening on Monday 2nd October 2006, David Newton (Vice Chair of Sport Cheshire) publicly announced Sport Cheshire’s commitment towards achieving the Equality Standard – A framework for Sport.
Sport
Cheshire is currently working towards achieving both the Foundation and Preliminary Levels by March 2007, with aspirations to extend this amongst the wider Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership.
The Equality Standard is a framework and vehicle for widening access and increasing the participation and involvement in sport and physical activity from under-represented individuals, groups and communities, especially women and girls, ethnic minority groups and people with disabilities.
