Mentors wanted for cross sport mentoring project
The National Skills Academy in partnership with the 5 North West County Sport Partnership’s are running a cross sport mentoring programme and we are looking to recruit potential mentors to the project. Please read the information below for more detail:

The programme is looking for individuals who are passionate about coaching and developing others to mentor these coaches from the Get Qualified NW Scheme, and support them with their development through the coaching qualifications and beyond.
What being a mentor for this project will involve?
Below is a list of the general roles and responsibilities mentors will be asked to undertake when supporting coaches through the scheme:
· Attend an induction session to meet the coach you will be working with
· Undertake a Training Needs Analysis with the coach and help them to identify their future coaching goals.
· Support the coach to write a Personal Development Plan, which helps them to identify the actions they need to undertake to achieve their identified goals
· Upload information from the Personal Development Plan onto the Programme Website*
· Support the coach to develop the relevant knowledge and skills needed in order to achieve their identified personal goals
· Act as a resource for providing coach development information or signpost to the appropriate resource when required
· Maintain relevant contact with the coach through email and telephone to support their development needs
* each mentor will receive £25 for their time to upload the PDP of a coach onto the website
What support will I receive as a mentor?
· Every mentor will have the opportunity to access training to support them with their role as mentor
· A mentor and coach will have a supported introduction to the programme and the coach they are working with through a local Induction Event, which will be run by their local Coach Development Manager and the Programme Manager

What are benefits to me, why should I get involved?
Mentoring should be a rewarding experience for you as a mentor, as well as the coach you are working with. As a mentor involved in this programme we hope you will have the opportunity to:
· develop key coaching related skills such as questioning, listening, analysing, providing feedback
· review your own coaching beliefs and practice
· develop your sport or club environment by bringing through new coaches
Mentors are vitally important to this project, and therefore all mentors will:
· Have the opportunity to access a nationally recognised development workshop to support them in their role as a mentor (Sports Coach UK Guide to Mentoring Sports Coaches)
· Be offered a reference to acknowledge their involvement and contribution to the programme, where desired
· Be encouraged to be involved in shaping the development of the programme and future mentoring schemes in the
· Receive £25 for admin time spent uploading personal development of a coach onto the system.
· Reimbursed for any travelling costs incurred
