Tom's background:

I started my career in sports as a volunteer, working for Salford Community Leisure and Eccles & Salford Juniors Rugby league club. I also did some volunteer work with the RFU. I got involved in volunteering after graduating from Edgehill Uni. From uni I joined the Royal Marines to fulfil a life long ambition unfortunatley, due to injury was unable to complete basic training. This is what led to me being involved in volunteering as I was passionate about sport buut not sure where exactly I wanted to get involved.

It was coaching at Salford & Eccles Juniors ARLFC where I began working with Salford City Reds Rugby League Club originally as a volunteer. Through my volunteering and hard work I was offered a full time role as a Rugby League Development Officer. This then opened the door to a number of different positions coaching rugby league and working with service area players and then being appointed Head Coach of Mancunians Rugby League a post I fulfilled in my own time whilst working at Salford. Ultimatley in the pursuit of a new challenge and my own development, I applied and was successful at getting the post of Club, Coach and Volunteer Dedvelopment Officer.
