Club Development Officer post in Cheshire (West)

Chester City Council Sports Development in partnership with Ellesmere Port & Neston Borough Council and Vale Royal Borough Council

 

Scale Band E  £ 17,781 - £ 22,122 per annum

Pay award pending

3 year fixed term contract.

37 hours per week.

 

We are looking for and enthusiastic person with good communication skills and a range of Community Club sporting knowledge, who can work on their own but also be part of our forward looking team. The position is to work across the 3 Borough Councils to increase capacity in voluntary sports clubs, to increase the number of qualified coaches and active volunteers working in sports clubs and to increase the number of clubs achieving Club Mark accreditation as part of the Sport England Community Investment Fund programme.

Initially the position will be contracted by Chester City Council and based in Chester and will deliver across the districts of Chester, Ellesmere Port & Neston and Vale Royal and in line with the work of the Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership. This post will transfer to the new Cheshire West & Chester Authority on 1st April 2009. The post holder will be expected to deliver against the needs of each Local Authority area. The post holder will be expected to deliver against set outcomes and targets as laid down by the joint management group for the partners.

 

The main areas of work will cover:

·        Increasing the number of qualified coaches in community clubs.

·        Increasing the number of active volunteers in community clubs.

·        Assisting clubs to achieve the Club Mark Accreditation Award.

·        Identify and put in place coach development courses.

·        Identify opportunities for school age leaders to link to a club environment.

·        Establishing action plans with clubs to continue development opportunities.

 

A leisure qualification and / or at least two years experience of working in the leisure industry and particular experience of working with schools, clubs and coaches is essential. In addition knowledge of the Club Mark Accreditation scheme or National Governing Awards scheme is essential.

Experience of working with other Sports organisations / agencies and issues relation to child protection would be an advantage.

 

The post will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check at an enhanced level.
