Investment

notes

Welcome to the investment section of our website.

Being able to secure investment and funding for your sport and organisation is key for the development of coaches, volunteers and members - in fact safeguarding the future of your club or organisation.

Using our website will help you gather information on potential funds and opportunities to develop your organisation and sport.

Over the last 5-10 years, individuals and sports organisations have been able to access a wide range of grant funding opportunities. However in the current financial climate, the number of grants available to organisations and individuals is decreasing, resulting in a more competitive application process. Becoming financially secure is not just about applying for grants; there are other options to consider such as:

a) Working towards making your organisation a self-sustaining enterprise. Ideas such as seeking sponsorship, attracting & retaining members, how to increase media coverage and how to benefit from new technologies may contribute to the financial stability of your organisation. For further information, please click here.

b) Community Asset Transfer. Asset transfer may be appropriate for some organisations. Asset transfer describes the process where a local authority may be looking to transfer an asset (e.g. playing pitches or buildings) to an organisation to operate. For further information, please click here.

c) National programme funding that is disseminated locally. Sport Cheshire manages the 'Sportivate' programme locally on behalf of Sport England. This programme that targets 14-25 year olds may be appropriate to support your club or organisation getting more members. For further information, please click here.

Applying for grants may be appropriate in the short- to medium-term for some organisations and individuals. To help you identify the most appropriate grant funding opportunity, we have separated grant funding sources into 4 areas:

i. Grants related to using sport for social good (community development)

ii. Grants related to individuals

iii. Grants for facilities

iv. Grants for clubs

Are you applying for grant funding?

If you are applying for funding and require some advice, we will endeavour to support you wherever possible or point you in the right direction. We are requested by Sport England (and other agencies, e.g. Local Authorities and Lottery Funders) as to whether or not we support funding applications within Cheshire & Warrington, if you have not made us aware of your application, then we may struggle to support your application fully.
