What is Sporting Champions?
Sporting Champions is a Sport England initiative, which brings world-class athletes face-to-face with young people (up to age 25) to inspire and motivate them to participate in sport. As the scheme is funded by Sport England, visits are FREE of charge and currently only available in
How can a Sporting Champion visit help us?
• Engage young people and inspire them to be active.
• Get them excited about sport and joining local clubs.
• Motivate them in their wider lives, through sport.
• Emphasise the importance and benefits of volunteering and getting involved in the community.
Our objective is to increase participation in community sport and visits should demonstrate how they support this objective.
Please note that we do not support award ceremonies
Who are the Sporting Champions?
• We have over 100 athletes available, who appeal to different audience interests.
• They cover around 40 sports in total between them ranging from snowboarding and inline skating to more traditional sports such as rugby and football.
• All of the Champions have excelled in their chosen sport and between them hold 49 Olympic and Paralympic medals, 86 World Championship medals and 61 Commonwealth medals!
When can I have a visit?
Your visit must take place before 30 September 2008. Visits are limited and on a first-come-first-served basis.
