Sporting Champions

Sporting Champions are delighted to inform us that they are now able to support events up to 31 March 2009!

As per the previous six months, 225 visits will be available to be used in this time. The 'open pot' system of allocations seems to be working well and as such they will continue to offer visits on a first-come-first-served basis.

CRITERIAAs always the criteria for the scheme remain the same, the aim is to increase participation, develop school and club links and promote leadership and volunteering. From extensive feedback, the best way to do this is through interaction with the Champion i.e. question and answer sessions, coaching, demonstrations and motivational talks.

Remember, all the Champions are willing and able to get involved with the young people. WE know they are VIPs, but THEY want to roll up their sleeves and get stuck in!

EXTENDING ACTIVITIES

In line with Sport England's strategy, they will be continuing to offer visits to support the Extending Activities Workstrand. Bucks Sport have already taken this opportunity, click here to read their case study.

For those of you starting your activities in September, they are happy to offer you the support of a Sporting Champion at your launch events

OLYMPIC BLOG

With 24 of our athletes either in Beijing or preparing for the Paralympics, we asked some of them to send us a little report back from China.
