What is the Cheshire & Warrington Partnership Youth Games?

The Games is a showcase of sports development in Cheshire and Warrington.

The six boroughs of Cheshire and Unitary Authority of Warrington have units whose  remit is to increase participation and develop young people through sport. They aim to increase engagement with physical activity through structured sports and creative opportunities, as well as identify and encourage talented individuals and give them access to development pathways to success.

 They work together with key partners such as National Governing Bodies of  Sport, and the Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership to achieve these aims.

 The nature of the work makes it difficult show the impact of results however, the  Youth Games give the opportunity to display and celebrate the year round    work that takes place.

Aim of the Games:

“Introducing and encouraging children and young people to take part in sport and physical activity to enable them to lead a healthy lifestyle; giving them the opportunity to start, participate and succeed in sport & physical activity”

 

 When is it - Saturday 11th October 2008

 Where does it take place?

 The Games will take place across 2 sites, Macclesfield Leisure Centre and Fallibroome High School. For a map click here

 

Who takes part?

The day is for young people aged between 14 and 19. Each sport (Competition and Taster) has different age ranges and development programmes that contribute to its participants. Approximately 1000 young people take part.

How do I get involved?  I would like to try a new sport

Please contact your Local Authority click here or email admin@sportcheshire.org we will deal with your request within 2 working days (Name, address, telephone number)

Can we watch?

The event is free to anyone who wishes to come and spectate.

Can I help on the day?

We are always looking for people to help with site set up and manning of activities amongst other things on the day.  If you wish to become a volunteer click here or please contact Sarah at Sport Cheshire for more information. 

All volunteers must be over 16 years of age and be prepared to complete a Criminal Records Bureau check.

Where can I park?

Participants coaches will be permitted to park at the rear of the Leisure Centre,

Volunteers and VIPs (on a first come first served basis), will be directed to a designated area at side of the Leisure Centre, parking at the School is also available.
