Centre of Excellence (Disability)
The
• provide the opportunity for male disabled football players to develop through the player pyramid
• provide quality coaching, education and welfare for both the Under 16s and the Under 19s age groups
• develop talented and elite disabled footballers to play in a Pan-Disability team at County Level and support their potential progression into one of the six National Impairment Specific Disability Squads.
Players can be put forward for a trial at any time in the season.
Players must be male, have a registered disability and play football in school and/or at a local club/programme. Players within one of the following disability categories would be eligible: Cerebral Palsy, Amputee players, Visually Impaired, Learning Disabilities, Deaf & Other, subject to the full criteria.
Disability Football Development
In January 2004 the FA launched its Disability Football Strategy. To support the strategy the FA has committed over £900,000 to the programme which will fund the development of the grassroots game through to the England Six Impairment Specific Disability Football Squads. The

• Ensure those delivering football in Schools, Further Education and Higher
Education have the appropriate training and support
• Ensure those delivering football in the Community have the appropriate training and support through the Coaching Disabled Footballers programme
• To empower disabled people to take a full and active role within Football;
Playing, Coaching, Refereeing, Officials
• To increase the awareness of opportunities of Football for people with a
disability
