Launch of Ellesmere Port and Neston CSN

AN exciting timetable of events is planned for the launch of the Ellesmere Port and Neston Community Sport Network.

The event hopes to put a spring in your step on Wednesday 2 April 2008 with free activities at WhitbyPark, Epic Leisure Centre and the Links Healthy Living Centre, EllesmerePort.

The Ellesmere Port and Neston Community Sports Network was established in 2006 to promote physical activity for residents to ensure we have a fit, active and healthy borough.

Funding of £426,000 from Sport England and other partners, supports five key projects that will be showcased at the launch.

On the day WhitbyPark will see a selection of cycling activities including “Wheels for all” and the “Bike doctor”.  Wheels for all provides adapted cycles for varying abilities and the Bike Doctor will give expert tips on how to keep you and your bike in the best shape!

Whitby Park is also home to the new WheelsPark where skate park experts “Tribe” will give demonstrations and training sessions between 12 noon and 4pm.

Activities at the EPIC include Tri golf, Boccia, Mega inflatable pool splash, Family dance active and a ball workout to shape you up.  Events starting at the Links Healthy Living Centre include a Pilates taster session and an evening Treasure Hunt.

Allison Lewis, the borough council’s Principal Community Development Officer said: “It going to be a great opportunity to sample a variety of free activities.  Places are limited, so booking in advance is recommended.  The borough council has produced a special leaflet giving full details and timings for the activities on offer.  Bring your leaflet with you to ensure your ticket to ride.”
