The following outcomes below outline the different topics which are covered during each of the workshops included on our current programme. We are able to provide other workshops from sports coach UK and Runniign Sport. (By the end of this workshop coaches should be able to):

Safeguarding & Protecting Children

  • Identify coaching practice and sport situations that might constitute poor practice and/or abuse
  • Recognise key principles of code of conduct and their application to good coaching practice
  • Recognise truths and myths surrounding child abuse
  • Identify ways of dealing with their own feelings about child abuse
  • Describe what constitutes abuse and identify the indicators
  • Recognise signs and symptoms
  • Identify appropriate action if a child discloses he/she has been abused
  • Identify appropriate action if concerned about the behaviour of another coach or colleague
  • Identify appropriate action if concerned about the behaviour of a parent/carer
  • Review practice that reduces the likelihood of wrongful allegations and of abuse occurring

Protect yourself, the young people you are coaching and your employer by understanding and following good coaching practice. Learn about child abuse and how to handle situations if you have concerns.

Equity in Your Coaching
  • explain what sports equity means and why it is important
  • identify barriers to participation
  • use appropriate language and terminology
  • identify and challenge inequitable behaviour
  • interpret the legal framework that affects coaching
  • identify how they can become more equitable
  • establish where to go for further information

Everyone should have access to sport, regardless of gender, age, race, ability, faith or sexual orientation. As a coach, you have an important role to play in ensuring this happens. The workshop will help you to apply and extend your existing skills to meet the needs of present and potential participants.

Basic First Aid

3 hour Emergency first aid course

Provide you with knowledge of how to assess an incident, and what to do next. There are demonstrations of CPR and recovery and other techniques to deal with injuries such as sprains and strains.

  • Building a wider membership base (Players, coaches & officials)
  • Improving eligibility for Lottery Funding
  • Improving involvement and support of local community.

This workshop will help you find out how your club can benefit by welcoming all sectors of the community. You can assess how well you are doing at the moment and what else you could be doing to make your club more accessible to more people.

 

Sport Specific Development

 

Governing Body Awards

 

These are run by sports national governing bodies (NGB's) and range from Level 1 to Level 5. There are a number of courses (mainly Level 1 and 2) offered in or close to Cheshire & Warrington, click here

 

UK Coaching Certificate

 

The UK Coaching Certificate is an endorsement of sport specific coach education qualifications that are aligned to an agreed framework. By creating a recognised standard for coach education the UKCC will make it easier to identify a quality coach in any sport at any level and contribute immeasurablt to the moves toward the proffessionalism of coaching.

The UKCC will ensure that sports are delivering the best available, athlete centred coaching and in due course reap the rewards of sporting success, both in perfromance and recreational enjoyment of sport.
