Professional Background/Interest
As a Disability Consultant my work takes me across the UK delivering Disabilty Equality Training Programmes to staff working in various areas of service provision, ie. Sport & Leisure, Tourism, Arts Services & Criminal Justice Services. I am regularly commissioned by various Boroughs to deliver training to staff working in various leisure facilities across the North West.
As a musician and lyricist, I am also a workshop leader gaining my accreditation at the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA) and for the past four years, have been commissioned by Cheshire's Rural Touring Network to assess the level of accessibility at each of their performance venues, enabling disabled people to make an informed choice as to which venue will meet their specific access needs.
Sporting Background/Interest
As a disabled parent, my commitment to 'access for all', and particularly within a sporting environment, was born out of the frustrations we experienced as a family once I became a wheelchair user. Due to inaccessible environments, I was frequently excluded from accompanying my children taking part in various sporting activities. My involvement withSport Cheshireis hopefully one way in which I can make a positive difference and is testament to the organisation's inclusive approach from Board level right across the organisation.
