About the Sport Cheshire Board

The collective responsibility of the Sport Cheshire Board includes:

• To ensure all of the work undertaken by members of staff with Sport Cheshire are in line with our charitable objectives.
• To ensure all areas of work undertaken by Sport Cheshire comply with existing legislation (such as Charity law, Employment law, Health & Safety Act, Children’s Act etc.)
• The Board must continue to exercise independent judgment and properly manage conflicts of interest. Charities must not allow their independence to be compromised when undertaking to deliver public services.
• To oversee the financial management of the funds held by Sport Cheshire to ensure accounts are audited annually, presented for public viewing and used within the boundaries of the charities objectives
• Advocate and communicate the good work of the Partnership to engage and exploit possible partnership working with new partners
• To provide support and guidance to the Chief Executive and her team within Sport Cheshire across the services provided
• To receive updates from the Alliance Executive in relation to decisions made on how finance received by Sport Cheshire will be spent across the strategic needs of the Partnership
• To provide advice in specific areas of expertise to assist with the business development of Sport Cheshire
• To ensure the staff employed by Sport Cheshire are treated fairly and in line with employment law, to advocate a positive and supportive working environment
• To receive updates from the Chief Executive of Sport Cheshire on the work of the Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership
• To maintain a strategic overview of the business activities of Sport Cheshire and its work through the Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership
• To ensure effective communication channels are maintained with the Alliance Executive
