Visits don’t have to have hundreds of attendees; in fact visits can often be more meaningful if there are fewer young people attending. This allows the Champion some quality time with the participants.

What is the length of lead in time for a visit?

We work around 6 weeks in advance to secure Champions for events. If you have the relevant information for a visit, you can request the visit further in advance, however due to Champions’ busy schedules and to avoid disappointment of cancelled visits, we find the optimum time is around 6 weeks in advance.

 

Can we access campaigning and strategic visits?

25 strategic and campaigning visits have been allocated. These are primarily for use by Sport England, however they may be used for events which are about increasing participation, but don’t necessarily involve meeting with young people. For example a local sports seminar aiming to engage community sports volunteers and build links between school and club sport. A Sporting Champion can help bring a seminar or launch to life by sharing their own experiences.

 

If you are planning an event and would like a Sporting Champion all we need is the following details:

 

  • Details for the organiser including: name of the organisation, contact name, position, email and phone number.

 

  • Details of the event including: the date, a brief outline and what the Champion will be asked to do.
