Northwich Sapphires Netball Club

England Netball Bronze CAPS and Winners at Goalden Globes Awards in 2 Categories

Winning comes all at once for a local club who have recently achieved England Netball Bronze CAPS after lots of hard work. The club can also celebrate the winning in 2 categories of the England Netball Goalden Globes Award held in Worcester on 24th March. Club Coach Lydia Naylor received ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ while Club Coach Jan Turley received her ‘Lifelong Service Award’. There could be more to come as the junior teams wait for the final results of the Cheshire and Merseyside Junior League.

Good Luck

Lydia has transformed Northwich Sapphires by setting up junior training sessions for 9-15 year olds.  A previously adult club has over 50 junior members.  Lydia is keen to see the junior section develop and has therefore written a development plan, which includes, short, medium and long-term goals.  Lydia is now enthusing other young players to take on leadership roles within the club and has set up school/club links project with a local primary school.  As well as her voluntary work untertaken in her club, she also supports her county as their Welfare Officer.

Jan has been involved with Netball for over 30 years.  She is a level 3 qualified Coach and has coached for the Cheshire County Senior Squad and U14 County Squad.  She has been an England Talent Coach and the Republic of Ireland National Coach.  She is also an England Netball talent Scout, a Coach tutor and a 'C' Award Umpire.  Jan has been a member of both the Cheshire County Committee and the NW Committee.  She has mentored many coaches within the Region.  Jan also coaches at a local club and is helping the Club through theirs CAPs accreditation.
