Sport Cheshire is proud and excited to be working towards ensuring a sporting legacy in Cheshire and Warrington as a result of London hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012. Our aim, as one of 49 CSPs nationwide, is to work with our many partners that make up the Cheshire and Warrington Sports Partnership, in order to provide lasting local benefits from London 2012.
We aim to achieve this through our involvement in, and promotion of, a number of local activities and initiatives, such as; raising funds for talented local athletes, developing local grass roots sport, and supporting local festivals and events. We intend to address local needs through our work, seizing opportunities to achieve a lasting local legacy for our communities.
Examples of the work we have been doing, and continue to do, in order to ensure a lasting local legacy, include our involvement and commitment to the 'Places People Play' legacy programme, our coordination of 'Sportivate' to get more young people playing sport and more physically active, our coordination of the 'Playground to Podium' programme, and our forthcoming role in the School Games programme, to name just a few.
We are also pleased to be working closely with Legacy Pledge, a new initiative aimed at using the power of London 2012 as a catalyst for positive personal change throughout Cheshire and Warrington. For more information about Legacy Pledge, and to find out how it works, click here.
