Sport Cheshire

The organisation tasked with leading the Partnership , one of 49 County Sports Partnerships operating across England.

Sport England

Invest in many of the organisations that operate in Cheshire & Warrington - including Sport Cheshire and the National Governing Bodies. This is part of their strategy to create a world-leading community sport environment of clubs, coaches, facilities and volunteers.

Cheshire West and Chester

Invest in Sport Cheshire and Brio Leisure to provide sporting opportunites across the authority on their behalf as well as providing directly a wide range of sports events.

Warrington Borough Council

The Council's arts and sports engagement team (ASET) work with a range of partners and groups to develop active, entertaining and creative programmes and opportunities for local people of all ages.

Cheshire East Council

Operate directly a wide range of leisure facilities including swimming pools, sports halls, health and fitness suites and outdoor facilities.

University of Chester

Run a range of sports courses, and also provide facilities, activities and sporting opportunities for all staff, students and guests on both their Chester and Warrington campuses.

MMU Cheshire

Provide fantastic sporting facilities at their Crew campus and have also teamed up with Cheshire East Council to host athletes from the Republic of Vanuatu for their pre Games training camps in the build up to London 2012.

Youth Sport Trust

A landscape lead organisation for school sport, commissioned by Sport England to provide development support for schools, sports and other local partners across Cheshire & Warrington

Warrington Wolves Foundation

The Foundation is a registered charity, affiliated to the Warrington Wolves Rugby League Cub. They undertake a wide variety of activity to promote grassroots particiation in sport and physical activity, working in partnership with a whole range of organisations.

England Basketball

Currently fund the work of the Cheshire Basketball Development Officer in order to encourage and enable people to participate in Basketball.

Badminton England

Work with key organisations across Cheshire & Warrington to successfully implement community badminton networks and schemes such as No Strings Badminton in order to increase participation.

England Athletics

Fund the work of the Cheshire Athletics Network in order to increase participation and improve the quality of experience in Athletics and running.

British Equestrian Federation

An umbrella organisation representing the interests of riders, vaulters and carriage drivers across Cheshire & Warrington via 18 independent member bodies.

British Rowing

The Governing body working with Cheshire and Warrington's clubs to ensure increased participation and the development of rowing from the grass roots right up to the Olympic Games.

Hoof Cheshire

Created to inspire the equine industry to develop, innovate and promote riding and other equestrian sports across Cheshire & Warrington.

Champs Public Health Network

Working collaboratively and providing expertise, the organisation aims to improve public health and wellbeing by reducing health inequalities.

Voluntary Action Vale Royal

Just one of local volunteers centres where you can go to find out how you can help make a difference - from helping run your local sports club to marshalling at a sports event.

Warrington Wolves

More than just a rugby league club! They provide an extensive range of sport initiatives, programmes and events in the Warrington area.

Cheshire Jets

The Jets are not only one of only twelve professional basketball teams in the UK but have an extensive community outreach sport programme covering all of Cheshire.

Cycling Projects

Bring cycling to disabled people and others with poor health across Cheshire and Warrington.

Cheshire & Warrington Sports Partnership is a local network of agencies and organisations committed to working together to increase participation in sport and physical activity

This website includes a wide range of information on what's happening across Cheshire & Warringon in relation to community -or grassroots - sport.

The 'About Us' section overviews the wide range of organisations that frequently work in Partnership across the Cheshire & Warrington area. This website also overviews funding opportunities - so we can improve our chances of drawing down national investment streams into our area. To find out more, click here. To improve standards in how we organise sport, please refer to the 'Run Sport' section of the website. And if you want to find out about opportunities to get active, information is included in the 'Play Sport' area. Throughout the year, Sport Cheshire also organise a series of county level events and conferences (see 'Events').

If you'd like to keep tabs on progress, Sport Cheshire publish a regular newsletter that goes to over 500 local organisations to keep them informed of local opportunities, investment, intelligence and activity. Rowers

We have produced great Olympic and Paralympic athletes Including: Tom James (Rowing), Beth Tweddle (Gymnastics), Shanaze Reade (Cycling, BMX), Adrian Derbyshire (Wheelchair Fencing)

Warrington Wolves

We have top class professional sports clubs including Warrington Wolves (Rugby League) and Cheshire Jets, (British Basketball League)

Ben Foden

Ben Foden the current England Rugby Union Full Back grew up in Malpas and played for Chester RUFC as a boy.

2010 UK Children's Coach of the Year

Gary Kelsall a Handball coach from Cheshire, won the 2010 UK Children's Coach of the Year at the Sports Coach UK awards, and the 2011 Grass Roots Coach of the Year at the MBNA Northern Sports Awards.

2012 Pre-Games Training Camp

MMU Cheshire East (MMUCE) is an approved 2012 Pre-Games Training Camp and will host Vanuatu, one of 15 Pacific Island nations.

Money

Cheshire contains 1,385 sports businesses, which provide 21,180 jobs and generates an annual turnover of £1.7 billion.

Chester Triathlon club

Our community clubs are competing at the highest levels. Chester Triathlon club is the leading club in the North West, Warrington Handball Club has produced England players and Wilmslow Lacrosse club has 10 international players.

2013 Rugby League World Cup
